Everyone connected with the Pathways Childcare Centre in Lid Lane, Cheadle must be congratulated on an excellent inspection which was recently carried out by Ofsted. Pathways Childcare Centre is a non-profit making voluntary managed organisation and is one of the longest established childcare settings serving families and schools in the local area. It offers value for money and a variety of childcare provision, sessions for babies, pre-school and older children.

Ofsted's recent inspection noted that 'Pathways' provided an outstanding early years provision to the well-being of all the children. Ofsted went on to report that the quality of staff's teaching is good ensuring that children make very good progress in all areas because the staff get to know children well.

Ofsted agreed that the setting was shown to be committed to working in partnership with parents and carers and relationships are well established. The emotional security of the children is given an exceptionally high priority by all staff, who take time to know each child and their unique needs. There is an excellent and flexible settling-in procedure and all policies and procedures in place. This alongside the excellent key person system ensures that children quickly and happily settle forming attachment with superb relationships with staff and children. This enables them to enjoy their time and make excellent progress in all areas of development and learning in a safe and secure environment.

Children of all ages at 'Pathways' develop their independence in self-help skills extremely well. Positive behaviour is highly evident and children play together in this calm and caring environment because the staff understands the importance of ensuring that children are stimulated and actively engaged. The children of all ages enjoy daily fresh air and exercise, developing physical skills and confidence as they enthusiastically play in the well equipped outdoor area in all weathers.

The management and staff of Pathways Childcare Centre have an ongoing improvement plan in place, which contributes to their aspiration to continuously improve the quality of this already very good, high standard local provision. This reflects the enthusiasm and commitment of all concerned to provide the best possible provision for the children in their care. Pathways Childcare Centre are proud of the very high standard of childcare which it provides and encourages any prospective families looking for good quality childcare in the future.
